Over a third of women experience a problem with their pelvic floor within their lifetime. Unfortunately, it’s often not a problem that ‘fixes itself’ nor is it talked about enough. Pelvic related issues can reveal themselves in different ways, such as back pain, urinary incontinence, and pain during sex.
Common pelvic health issues that respond to rehabilitation include:
Stress incontinence (urine leakage with laughing, coughing, or exercise)
Urgency and frequency of urination
Pelvic pain
Postpartum recovery
Pelvic organ prolapse
Postpartum return to exercise
If you experience any of these common pelvic health issues, we want you to know you’re not alone! Here at Muva Physiotherapy we are dedicated with a fully trained women’s health Physiotherapist. Whether you’re a brand new mother or not a mother at all, pelvic symptoms can occur in anyone. If you leak during exercise, or have pelvic pain in your life ‘learning to live with it’ does not have to be a thing. All women deserve a stronger more functional pelvic floor for a better quality of life. So, how do we do that?
Our pelvic health Physiotherapist Stephanie Jones is specially trained to rehabilitate the pelvic floor muscles. Stephanie helps her clients increase mobility and strength, reduce pain, and improve body awareness and control. A general assessment starts with a detailed discussion of your current concerns, bowel and bladder function, and goals. If an internal exam is required, we give you privacy and do all we can to make you as comfortable as possible. As each client’s issues are unique, and treatments vary. However, most include muscle release, aiming to stretch and relax tight muscles, and a detailed home exercise program. This may include working on back and hip muscles, as well as the internal release of pelvic floor muscles, if necessary. Each step of the process is discussed and the patient is given full control of the assessment and treatment that is decided.
Whatever it takes to get you back to doing the things you love, Muva is here for you.
